WACREN advances NREN Cloud Computing and Shared Services Strategy in Nigeria

The Network Monitoring and Measurement workshop in Nigeria provided the opportunity to have several side meetings with datacenter providers and education stakeholders towards realisation of the WACREN cloud and shared services strategy.

This included a visit to Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) on 5th October 2015 in the company of the MD of NgREN and top management of Galaxy Backbone led by their CEO, Mr Yusuf Kazaure.  Galaxy Backbone is the connectivity and IT services provider for the government of Nigeria and the meeting was preceded by an inspection of their datacenter facilities.  

A complementary session with Mr Peter Jack, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was held the following day with colleagues from the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology.

The team also met with executives of MainOne and Rack Center, providers of Tier III datacenters in Lagos after participating in the Eko-Konnect seminar on Federated Identity and Mobility for Research and Education.
