WACREN has launched PIDsLink, a software platform for minting and resolving Archival Resource Keys (ARKs). Built on open-source software and reflecting a commitment to collaboration, PIDsLink is accompanied by the PIDsLink Management Dashboard, a user-friendly tool that simplifies the storage, organisation, and management of ARKs and requires no technical expertise. Adopted as part of the LIBSENSE initiative’s Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) roadmap, ARKs have been selected for cost-effectiveness, metadata flexibility, and decentralised management, making them a versatile choice for persistently identifying digital resources. Integrated into BAOBAB, WACREN’s regional catchall repository platform, PIDsLink will support pilot programs with NRENs in Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, and Burkina Faso starting in 2025.
