GARNET has announced a new team of Board Members and staff members to steer the strategic and administrative affairs of the Ghanaian NREN, respectively.

The Board is a rich mix of experienced professionals and experts in the broad research and education space in Ghana.

The Board is composed of Prof. Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor, the immediate past Board Chair of WACREN and is now a representative of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Science, Prof. Nicholas N.N. Nsowah-Nuamah – a representative of private universities and Dr Peter Amoako-Yirenkyi, a representative of public universities.

The rest are Mrs Mavis Ampah Sintim-Misa – CEO of STINSAD & Consultant to the World Bank, Mrs Joycelyn Coleman – Partner, Advisory Services of KPMG Ghana, Mr Jacob Tetteh Akunnor – representative of Ministry of Education Ghana, Mr Emmanuel Ofori – representative of Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation as well as Mr Lucas Yikimpa Chigabatia – CEO of GARNET.

This Board is mandated to serve for a renewable two-year term. Prof. Quaynor and Mr Ofori have been sworn-in; Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah will be sworn-in in due course.

Also, GARNET now has a full complement of staff members to manage the day-to-day affairs of the NREN. Lucas Chigabatia leads the staff of GARNET. The rest of the team are Emmanuel Togo – consulting Chief Technology Officer; Amira Issifu – Finance and Administration Officer; Elizabeth Owusu Kissi – Business Development and Communication Officer and Evelyn Fosu – Networks Engineer.

GARNET’s Secretariat is now operating from its new offices in the Vice Chancellors Ghana Office Complex in Accra.
