In Côte d’Ivoire, Dr. Barry paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Adama Diawara. The two gentlemen discussed advocacy and support for the local REN – RITER, as the latter prepares to receive digital services from WACREN. Dr. Barry described the immense benefits of NRENs to the research and education communities as well as how the NRENs can serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development of Côte d’Ivoire through the discovery and use of knowledge. Prof. Diawara mentioned the government’s plans for the education sector and how research plays a critical role in this framework.
