snRER gets closer to reintegrating into WACREN

The Research and Education Network for Senegal (snRER) is a step closer to rejoining WACREN and participating in activities in the WACREN region.

Recently, WACREN CEO, Dr. Boubakar Barry, engaged in a productive meeting with Professor Ousmane Thiaré, the Director General of CINERI (Cyberinfrastructure pour l’Enseignement Supérieur, la Recherche et l’Innovation) of Senegal and a team of personnel holding the forts of the NREN. This meeting focused on the prospects, modalities and benefits of senRER’s reintegration into WACREN.

With a shared vision for harnessing technology and advanced resources to empower educational and research initiatives, the meeting marked a step towards furthering collaboration and strengthening the connection between the two organisations.

The prospect of snRER rejoining the WACREN community is a welcome development. When the process is completed, Senegalese researchers and educators will benefit immensely from WACREN’s activities and advanced services, boosting teaching, learning, research and innovation in the country.

The meeting between Dr Barry and Professor Thiaré is a testament to the strong commitment of both organisations to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Senegal through research and education.
