The consultation workshop on the implementation of the National Network of Education and Research of Niger began Tuesday, November 15, 2011, under the patronage of His Excellency Mamadou Diallo Youba, Minister of secondary and higher education and scientific Research. Before the opening address by His Excellency the Minister, Dr Barry Boubakar, coordinator of the Research and Education Unit of the Association of African Universities pointed out that implementation of the Niger NREN was another step in the interconnection of national entities in West and Central Africa by WACREN. This is the second workshop of its kind for members of WACREN regional network. Similar workshops will take place in other countries by the end of 2011. The workshop was attended by the Rectors and Vice-presidents of the four (4) public universities, the Rector of the International University and up to fifty participants representing institutions of higher education and research in Niger.
