Public Health Community Coordinator

WACREN is pleased to announce the opening for a Public Health Community Coordinator, a pivotal role supporting the growth of the Public Health Community of Practice (CoP) across Africa. This position offers the opportunity to work with renowned partners shaping public health scholarship on the continent.

About the Role

As the Public Health Community Coordinator, you will facilitate engagement, support training activities, and coordinate communication within the community. You will play a key role in programmes like COPPHA and WACREN’s open science and diamond open access initiatives, ensuring seamless delivery across member institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities and meetings across the Public Health CoP.
  • Support training programmes, webinars, and workshops.
  • Manage communication channels and maintain regular community updates.
  • Design and implement strategies to enhance community participation and knowledge sharing.
  • Support implementation of Coalition for Open Access Publishing of Public Health in Africa (COPPHA) training and diamond open-access initiatives.
  • Track participation data and prepare reports on community activities.
  • Assist in organising events, meetings, and collaborative sessions.
  • Develop newsletters, summaries, and resource materials for the community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Background in Public Health, Health Informatics, Life Sciences, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Experience in community coordination, programme support, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multi-partner collaborations effectively.
  • Fluency in English or French, with working knowledge in the other language would be an added advantage.

Role Details

  • Duration: 1 year, renewable.
  • Focus Areas: Community engagement, training coordination, communication, reporting, and partner liaison.
  • Stipend: Competitive monthly allowance.
