Ernest Kwame Anokye is WACREN’s Chief Technology Officer, bringing over 15 years of experience building and leading telecommunications and digital infrastructure at national and regional scale. Before joining WACREN, Kwame served for nine years as Chief Technology Officer at Afriwave Telecom Ghana Limited, where he designed and oversaw the operations of Ghana’s only Interconnect Clearing House (ICH) — the shared national infrastructure that routes 100% of the country’s voice traffic and approximately 20% of incoming international traffic, processing one billion+ records monthly. He led a $42 million fibre backbone rollout spanning eight regions of Ghana and directed multi-country technical operations across West Africa, including a national numbering plan migration for Benin’s telecommunications regulator, ARCEP. Kwame has held senior technical roles at Huawei Technologies and Nokia, where he gained extensive experience in next-generation network architecture, service governance, and multi-operator deployments across Ghana, Uganda, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia Beyond infrastructure, Kwame is passionate about developing the next generation of global professionals. He serves as a coach in the X-Culture programme — one of the world’s largest international business education initiatives — mentoring university students across multiple countries in cross-cultural collaboration and professional practice. He holds a BSc in Computer Engineering and an MSc in Strategic Management and Leadership, and is a certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC). He is a member of the Internet Society Ghana Chapter and the NETHOPS Emergency Response Team.
