WACREN NRENs to showcase SDG contributions 

National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) within the WACREN community will showcase how they are supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) at a workshop in Gaborone, Botswana.

The workshop, organised by the AfricaConnect3 project, is aimed at distilling the direct and indirect contributions of the African NRENs to making the ‘Global Goals’ a reality by 2030.

Within the WACREN community, NRENs, through their offerings to their communities, have been directly contributing to some of the goals’ achievements, including #4 – Quality Education, #5 – Gender Inequality and #17 – Partnerships for the Goals while having multiplier effects on other goals.

At the workshop, which is co-located with the UbuntuNet-Connect 2022, the annual conference of the regional research network in South and East Africa, the WACREN community will share concrete instances of its contribution to “making the world a better place” through the alignment of its project outcomes, activities and programmes to the UN SDGs.
