Africa Digital Campus launch in Benin

After a successful launch in Burkina Faso, WACREN and its partners will turn their attention to Benin’s capital – Cotonou, in October 2022 for the Africa Digital Campus (ADC) project.

The launch co-organised with the national agency for digital development (Agence pour le Développement du Numérique – ADN) will converge all key stakeholders in the country to commit to successfully implementing the novel project.

The two-year pilot project aims to provide access to e-learning infrastructure, connectivity and knowledge base to students and researchers in two Francophone universities in the WACREN region.

Implemented in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD) with the support of the European Union, the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), the project strengthens cooperation in terms of distance education and network infrastructure in Africa. Other institutions (RENATER, CIRAD, ACE PARTNERs) may be mobilised as partners.

WACREN is developing ADC as a key part of the RRENs e-learning strategic offering to its community. In this project, the regional REN is keen on creating an apropos national training platform with tools for interactive computing that leverages WACREN Zoom, Trust and Identity services providing access through eduroam and eduID, and an open education repository (OER).
