WACREN-OCF sign MoU to develop CSIRT community in West and Central African region

The West and Central Africa Research and Education Network (WACREN) and the Open CSIRT Foundation (OCF) have signed a three-year cooperation agreement to build and strengthen computer security in the research and education network (REN) space in the West and Central African region. 

Paris Peace Forum 2020: It’s a wrap!

After a competitive selection process with over 850 applications, the AfricaConnect3 project was selected as one of the 100 projects to be showcased at the third edition of the Paris Peace Forum 2020.

It was a fine opportunity to share with the world about how the EU and Africa are collaborating to bridge the digital divide in Africa by extending reliable, high speed connectivity and accompanying services to African education space. 

WACREN holds webinar for NRENs on business models

More than 25 NREN managers in the WACREN region and beyond converged on Zoom on 9 and 21 October 2020 for a business model webinar.

The webinar – an activity under the AfricaConnect3 project empowered the NREN managers with time-tested, proven strategies to develop tailored business models for NRENs in the region and beyond.

Research and education network operators upgrade knowledge at WACREN BGP Workshop

WACREN has held a two-day online BGP Workshop for the handlers of the network across the region.  

The 4-hour apiece sessions – held on 1 and 8 December, were a fine opportunity for participants to upgrade their knowledge on how the WACREN network works and how they can plug their networks into this bigger connection.
